THE SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY CLASSIFIED AS A SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE, GENERALLY CHARACTERIZED AS HAVING BOTH TROPICAL AND MIDLATITUDE CYCLONE FEATURES. MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY (MSI) DEPICTS A BROAD BUT DEFINED LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER WITH A WEAK PLUME OF CONVECTION DISPLACED FAR TO THE SOUTHEAST BY STRONG VERTICAL WIND SHEAR (VWS). ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS DEPICTS HIGH VWS (50KTS), WEAK EQUATORWARD OUTFLOW, AND COOL SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES (23-25C). ENSEMBLE AND DETERMINISTIC MODELS ARE IN AGREEMENT FOR A GRADUAL DECAY IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 32 TO 38 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA LEVEL PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED TO BE NEAR 1003 MB.
