TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY: (1) AT 26AUG26 1800Z, TROPICAL DEPRESSION 20W (TWENTY) WAS LOCATED NEAR 17.2N 161.0E, APPROXIMATELY 343 NM WEST-SOUTHWEST OF WAKE ISLAND, AND HAD TRACKED EASTWARD AT 01 KNOTS OVER THE PAST SIX HOURS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT 30 KNOTS GUSTING TO 40 KNOTS. SEE REF A (WTPN33 PGTW 262100) FOR FURTHER DETAILS. (2) AT 26AUG26 1800Z, TYPHOON 17W (SAUDEL) WAS LOCATED NEAR 28.6N 125.3E, APPROXIMATELY 183 NM NORTHWEST OF KADENA AB, AND HAD TRACKED WESTWARD AT 05 KNOTS OVER THE PAST SIX HOURS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT 75 KNOTS GUSTING TO 90 KNOTS. SEE REF B (WTPN31 PGTW 262100) FOR FURTHER DETAILS. (3) NO OTHER TROPICAL CYCLONES. B. TROPICAL DISTURBANCE SUMMARY: (1) THE AREA OF CONVECTION (INVEST 91W) PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 19.5N 167.3E IS NOW LOCATED NEAR 20.2N 167.4E, APPROXIMATELY 75 NM NORTHEAST OF WAKE ISLAND. ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTS AN OBSCURED LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION (LLC) WITH FLARING CONVECTION DEVELOPING AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF THE ASSESSED CENTER POSITION. EARLIER SCATTEROMETER DATA INDICATED THE LLC REMAINS SOMEWHAT ELONGATED AND ASYMMETRIC, WITH WINDS OF 25-30KTS ALONG THE EASTERN FLANK. ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS REVEALS FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR DEVELOPMENT WITH STRONG UPPER-LEVEL OUTFLOW, LOW VERTICAL WIND SHEAR (5-10KTS), WITH WARM SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE (28-30C). GLOBAL MODELS ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH 91W TRACKING NORTHWARD OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS AS IT CONTINUES TO CONSOLIDATE AND INTENSIFY. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 23 TO 27 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA LEVEL PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED TO BE NEAR 1002 MB. THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS IS UPGRADED TO HIGH.
